Reducing your overall Cholesterol score is an essential part of maintaining a Wellness Plan.
  • While I´m not a doctor or a qualified dietitian or a trained herbologist, I do know what has worked for me to lower my cholesterol, to reduce my weight and to improve my attitude about myself. Over the recent past several years, my total combined cholesterol has steadily decreased from well over 200 to the mid-100's. How?

Through lifestyle choices which I made as part of my Wellness Plan You, too, should make your own Wellness Plan Make your doctor your partner.
High Cholesterol may be an indicator of potential heart disease
  • Why did I become concerned with cholesterol? Because I became concerned about my opportunity for heart disease. My family has a history of heart disease, including HBP, cholesterol and heart attacks; and their history became my present! I wanted to lessen my chance of heart disease and to help my body recover faster and healthier if I experienced a heart issue. I was occasionally and mildly concerned, but wasn´t worried, and therefore did nothing until my early 30´s. This attitude is a distinct attribute of youth. Wrong, but distinct. This distinction can lead to extinction!
Catching it earlier, rather than later
  • Cholesterol Check In my teens I was diagnosed as having Essential Hypertension (HBP which cannot be traced to a cause), but, like most teenagers, I pooh-poohed it for years because it hadn´t killed me yet, right? My Wellness Plan for many years was no plan at all. Eat whatever and however much I wanted; drink lots o´ coffee to keep me wired; smoke 2 packs a day to "ease my nerves"; and, play lots of pick-up basketball. Sound vaguely familiar?

When I was in my early 30´s, I was actually feeling the HBP, especially when I bent over to pick something up, and went to consult a doctor. My doctor informed me that I had HBP as well as a cholesterol problem and he immediately placed me on a HBP medicine with a diuretic and told me to quit eating salt; then recommended that I embrace the Mediterranean Diet*. The high levels of HBP came down to within normal range within several months and there I stayed for more than a decade. (Note: I´m still taking prescription medication for HBP, but at a very low dosage, and still mostly follow the Mediterranean Diet*.) It took years of following my Wellness Plan to reduce my cholesterol to its current low levels. Start your Wellness Plan now!

Note: If you do nothing else about your health, consult with your doctor to immediately and for the rest of your life control your HBP!
